Learning to Read

Division 16 is finally settled as a class after a few changes over the past week.  Now that we are settled we are focussing our attention on getting to know one another (we have come from eight different kindergarten classes), feeling comfortable in the classroom, learning routines, and getting SMARTER!  Ms. Lirenman wants us to be the smartest grade one students in all of SURREY!  Today we worked on Quiet Reading (reading by ourselves) and Noisy Reading (reading with a partner or two).  We were able to read by ourselves for 7 minutes straight.   Tomorrow we're going to try for even longer. Here are few pictures of us reading.

  1. Hello Ms. Lirenman and Division 16. It must be so nice now to all be settled into your classroom and the photos of you all practising your reading showed us how well you are learning to concentrate. Well done on 7 minutes of constant reading! That's very good for little people and I'm sure you will show Ms. Lirenman how clever you are at reading for even longer very soon. The SMARTEST grade one children in all of Surrey....that will be easy, especially if you continue with your reading! Are you enjoying making lots of new friends in your class? What are you learning in maths? We are doing lots of number work.

  4. Thank you Mrs. K and Craigburn Primary School, and Trista's mom, we are having fun in Ms. Lirenmans class. Today we learned new words. Some of us played a rhyming word game while some of us were detectives looking for m,s,f, and b words around the classroom. In math we are learning about numbers. Thank you for visiting our blog. Please come again. From Division 16
