While Ms. Lirenman does give us work to choose from each week most of us are also up to our own special projects too. Here are some of the things some of us are up to.

This project was inspired by a Vancouver School district teacher named Mr. Walker and he was inspired by Craig Segall and his wonderful photographic work around children and bread around the world called Daily Bread.

This morning Ms. Lirenman got into the school to remove our salmon fry from our tank.
Look how great our fry are doing!
It wasn't easy but Ms. Lirenman was able to scope them all out.
I don't think they liked being in here but they didn't realize they were going to a better place. I did feed them while they were there too.
Off to their new home.

If you remember when we left for the break we had only just planted our seed potatoes. Look at some of them now.
I hope you noticed that I put a ruler beside each plant. This will help with our observations of their growth over time. If you get a chance visit the corner where we planted them because most of the daffodils are blooming. They add a real bit of happiness during these times.
If you're not able to visit I did take some photos yesterday afternoon.
Now we wait patiently for our tulips to bloom too. Keep safe everyone!

You'll be happy to know that they are all doing well. Right now under special circumstances, I am able to get into the school to check on their health and living conditions. Yesterday was our third day in the Project Chef Kitchen at our school. The focus of this day was to look at what makes up a balanced meal. Having this important information we got down to work making dough for homemade tortillas and making "Make You Strong" salad. As we made our salad we tasted each ingredient. We really liked some of the ingredients. She spent some time talking with us in the classroom before we headed outside to look for and learn about important plants that are native to this part of Canada. Many of the plants she shared with us had important healing properties.

Today it was finally our turn to have the Project Chef experience in the school's "Project Chef Kitchen" and boy we weren't disappointed. We learned so many new things today and if you asked us we'd each probably tell you something different. The highlight, however, was preparing and eating a delicious friendship fruit salad. Here are some photos from day one.

Each class in the school is experiencing 4 or 5 half-day sessions of cooking healthy edible food. This week we had a turn of having Project Chef in our classroom. We were fortunate to have someone from BC Hydro come and teach us a few things about how to be safe around electricity.
The three most important lessons we learned when power lines are down are:
1. Look up and down for safety hazards.
2. Call 911 for help.
3. Stay at least 10 m away.
