The Kindness Project

We started this term by rereading the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today and talked about ways we can fill one anothers bucket.

Later that day we read the book Each Kindness.

After we read the book we too dropped rocks into water. Each time we dropped a rock we talked about ways we have been kind.

It made Ms. L smile a lot because we came up with many different ways to be kind.

As the week went on we really thought about what we were doing and if our actions were filling or tipping buckets.

Some of us blogged about being kind.

We even made up our own hashtag and tweeted about it.

How are you kind to your friends?

Axe Capoeira

Early this week we were treated Brazilian folkloric dances and martial arts. Axe Capoeira were a very entertaining group. Here are a few photos from the show.

Earth Works

On Friday we had an in class field trip when Kinetic Kathleen came to learn with us.  She brought a ton of really great tools. We learned about the earth.  Here are some photos of her visit.

Here we are learning about solar power. We used the light as the sun and it made the the spinner spin.

Here we are learning about water, and the water cycle. We were using our observation skills too.

This was a cool wind machine. It was part of the section of the visit when we learned about airl.

Next we learned about soil and the five components that make up sole.

We examined each part carefully.

Then we made a soil mountain and added water to it to represent rain.

We saw the effects of water on the earth. We saw erosion.

Finally we met some worms and learned why we need warms in our soil too. Do you know why? It has to do with air.

It was a great way to spend part of Friday. We learned a ton and had a lot of fun learning too.

Skating!

The pictures can tell our story. For many of us it was our first time on skates.
