The Symphony

Today the grade two students in our class went with all the other grade two students in our school to the Symphony.  While Ms. Lirenman was home sick some of the grade two parents went along with the students (with Mr. Johnson of course).  Here are some photos from their adventure.

Playing with Words

Today a small group of us were playing with "ing" and "y" words.  We were pretty proud of the way we could make new words. Take a look.

Lunar New Year

Today is Chinese New Year.  Many of us wore the colour red to school in honour of the celebration.  In the afternoon we learned a bit more about the Chinese New Year including which animal year we were born in.  We also had a special sheep craft that was prepared by our wonderful parent group. We were also really lucky to have a Chinese Lion Dance performance in our gym.  We ended the day with special lucky money in red envelopes, which happened to be a chocolate coin. Gung Hey Fat Choi everyone!

Swimming!

Today we went on a field trip to the Newton Wave Pool to go swimming.  On the way back to school Ms. Lirenman heard that is was the best field trip ever!  Here are some photos from our adventure.

One of our classmates family runs a day care and they have a brand new 20 passenger bus. Some of us went on it.

We all met up at the pool and had a blast swimming in the water.

Here are some of us on the bus heading back to school.

A big thank you for all the parents that drove for the field trip. An extra special thank you for the parents who even came in the water with us.

Jump Rope For Heart

This afternoon our entire school took part in Jump Rope for Heart. If you had come by our school you would have seen children jumping all over the school.  Here are some of the photos of us jumping.  If you notice we had all types of jumping happening both inside and outside.  Have you ever taken part in a Jump Rope for Heart?

Valentines Day Fun

Today before lunch we took the time to open our valentines and thank our friends for their kind wishes. This is what it looked like before we started.

This is what it looked like in the middle of our Valentines celebration.

This is what it looked like after.  Tons of smiles!

Happy Valentines Day!

The Calm Before the Storm

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day and took part in our school wide Jump Rope for Heart. As excited as we all were, and we were all very excited, this is what we looked like during our choice literacy time this morning.

Reader's Theatre Long Distance Style

Before lunch today we took part in a reader's theater activity with Ms. DeGroot's class in Iowa.  Both classes learned all the parts of the play then we divided our classes into the parts and performed the play twice.  It was such a great way to learn

Have you ever done Reader's Theater with a far away class?

Magnets!

We spent the afternoon exploring magnets inside and outside.  Here's our first padlet of what we knew and wondered.

Here is us exploring with our magnets.

Here's some of what we learned today.

Have you ever explored with magnets?
