20,000 Blog Visits!!!

Can you believe it, our class blog has had over 20,000 blog visits this year.  Never in a million years did Ms. Lirenman think that that many people would visit our pages. Now, the number 20,000 does not mean that we've had 20,000 different people visiting because we are very certain that we've had many visitors return to check out what we've been up to.  In any case we are so thankful to be able to share our learning with you and we are even more thankful that you took the time to come and visit.

So now, are you curious to know where our visitors  have come from?

The largest group of visitors to our blog has come from Canada. We guess that doesn't surprise anyone because we live in Canada.  What may surprise you is that we've had a lot of international visitors too.  Here are the countries that our visitors most frequently come from over the lifetime of this blog:  United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Russia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, New Zealand, Japan, and Germany. In addition in the last month we've had visitors from Kuwait, Thailand, Ireland, and the Philippines too.  We've had visitors from other countries as well but the nature of the stats on the blog don't allow us that information as we only get the top ten.

But what are they visiting?  Of our 184 blog posts here are our top five most visited ones. Please note that the top three can be quite interchangeable as they have had almost the same number of visits - over 200 each.

In addition to our blog posts we also have a fair bit of traffic visiting our blog pages (those tabs at the top of the page).  Our most frequently visited tabs are About Division 16, Word Wall Words, and Visitor Etiquette - How To Be Safe on Our Blog.  These three tabs have had between 400 - 550 visitors each.

We've also received a lot of comments, almost 240, and we'd love to receive more.  We've had 9 voice messages too.

So  yes, you could say that our class blog has been quite a success this year.  Now the question to you, our loyal readers, what can we do next year to make it even better? We'd love to hear your feedback.

Games Day

On Friday, June 15th we celebrated Games Day with the entire school.  We were each assigned a colour and a number and we did our best to dress in on our assigned colour.  We then headed to the gym to meet with the rest of the kids that had the same colour and number as us.  There we met our grade six group leader.  This person took us from station to station all day long and they made sure that we were safe and having fun.  Here are a couple of pictures of us in the gym at the start of the day. From these pictures can you tell what the team colours were? We think you can.

We then set off to our stations.  Ms. Will and Ms. Lirenman were supervising at Station 3 which was a ball bouncing station with a whole bunch of fun adaptations such as eyes closed bouncing, bounce and spin, and one legged bouncing.  The station however was run by some awesome grade seven students. In fact all the stations were run by awesome grade seven students.  They did such a great job.

Now here's the sad part. While games day was going on Ms. Lirenman was visited by one of the tech people from our school district to help solve some of the technology problems that she was having.  This took much longer than it should have and because of that Ms. Lirenman didn't get out to see all of us having so much fun at our stations. So she's really sorry to say that she doesn't have any pictures from one of the funnest days of the school year. :-(  This makes her very sad.

The day ended with FREE pizza lunch from the parents followed by a few rounds of "tug of war". Ms. Lirenman was able to get pictures of some of us at this time.

Have you ever experienced a Games Day before? What was your favourite part? We'd love to hear from you.

More Voice Mail Messages!

While we continue to strive to reach our goal of 20,000 hits before the end of the school year it has been super exciting to see the different places people have been coming to visit our blog from.  One thing that continues to make us smile is the voice messages that are being left for us.  Here are two that we received in the past 24 hours.

Voice Mail from North Vancouver!

How exciting to receive another voice message on our blog.  We won't tell you who it's from, you'll have to listen to find out, but we are so thankful they took the time to stop by and leave us a message.  We are getting even closer to our goal of 20,000 visits before our school year finishes at the end of the month.  Messages like this one make us smile because we know that people we have never met before are trying so hard to help us achieve our goal.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Skyping with Mrs. Kaput's Class

Ms. Lirenman isn't really sure how it happened, but some how our Skype call with Mrs. Kaput's class in Joilet, Illinois from our Flat Classroom Project never made it to this blog.  It happened during their last week of school when things were pretty crazy in our classroom too.  Anyhow she has finally taken the time to edit the conversation and created this little video to show the rest of the world how it went.  Remember this was the first time that we have ever Skyped as a class and hopefully there will be a lot more opportunity to do it some more in the future. Enjoy.

Have you ever Skyped with another class before? Do you have some tricks for us to make it even more successful next time? We'd love to hear them.

A Voice Message from Brazil!

Boys and girls our blog has had many visitors this weekend as I try to see if we can get 20,000 hits before our school year is over at the end of the month.  Today we had a visitor named Ms. Kris leave us a voice message.  The cool thing about her message is that she lives in Brazil, South America.  That's a long way away from where we live.  I'm pretty sure you are just as curious as I was to hear her message so here it is.

If any one else is reading this blog post please don't be afraid to leave us voice messages too.  We love them!  Ms. Lirenman is starting to think that maybe we should leave one for you, our visitors.
