On the first day back after the New Year we started talking about our goals for 2013 in terms of things we want to work on, or get better at. We tried to make our goals specific, and we thought about what we needed to do to achieve them. After our discussions Ms. Lirenman asked us to write our goal down in one word to let others know what we've been thinking about. Yes, our goals are more specific than that but we liked the idea of narrowing down to just one word. This is what we wrote.
"Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. It is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace that is right for each individual child. Earlier is not better" Magda Gerber

Wow! We are in the process of doing the same thing in our class. We have brainstormed for areas where we can improve. Our homework is to review our report cards with our parents and come up with one goal for this term. On Thursday we are going to write down our goals and then think of ways that we can make them happen! I liked reading your one word goals! Great thinking!
ReplyDeleteDid you write your goals on your boards too? Maybe you can take a picture of them for us to see. From Kaleb on behalf of Division 18
